Spencer Nakasako, an award-winning filmmaker, believes in a simple but powerful truth: everyone has a story to tell.
As the Walker Art Center Film/Video artist-in-residence, Nakasako took the digital media lab housed in Walker on Wheels (WoW) to Powderhorn Park, Minneapolis and the Lao Family Community Center, St. Paul. Under his direction, teens from the Twin Cities' Hmong and Native-American communities shot and edited short films during weeklong digital-video workshops designed to give participants the tools to document their own stories.
In the Andersen Window Gallery, Nakasako created a video booth where visitors could share their stories as part of the installation Artist-in-Residence: Spencer Nakasako April 22-September 9, 2001.
