The Walker Art Center’s relationship with Joanna Haigood began with the commission of CHOMU (butterfly dreams), presented in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden in July 1993. Haigood and visual artist Reiko Goto created a seven-station walk-through performance installation that brought into relief metaphors of urban life and nature as imagined through the seemingly invisible life cycles of butterflies.
